The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene seafood restaurant is, in our opinion, the best seafood restaurant in the Charleston area, and Charleston, South Carolina has many extremely good restaurants.  Not only is it the best seafood, Fred Scott, the owner along with his wife, is the most warm and friendly man you would chance to meet.  He warmly greets you when you enter the restaurant.  Fred told us his wife named the restaurant after a hurricane, when the boat, The Richard and Charlene was left by the hurricane, wrecked onto their property, the current location of the restaurant.  Portions may be ordered in either Richard's size (large) or Charlene's size (not as large, but generous).

To get there from Charleston, take  Route 17 across to Mount Pleasant, swing right onto Coleman Blvd (703), after crossing Shem Creek, turn right on Live Oak Drive (note 3 foot concrete posts up from ground as street markers), left on Haddrell Street... curve left... Look for the Wreck between Wando Seafood Company and Magwood & Sons Seafood.  Note, it is set back off the street with it's large parking lot in front of it (see photos).  Their hours, as of 5/12/2003, are 5:30pm-8:15pm Sun-Thu, 5:30pm-9:30pm Fri-Sat.  Serve Beer & Wine, but not on Sunday.  Call 843-884-0052 for current hours.
